+This shirt is made from an antique French linen bedspread, circa 1900s-1920s. The hem was embellished with a technique called ladderwork, in which some threads are removed from the fabric and the remaining threads are bound together in a geometric pattern, and the maker embroidered butterflies and a monogram around the ladderwork. Hand-mending throughout.
